My studio where I am most happy and content.

A BIT ABOUT THE MAKER

From a small town on the East Coast of Ireland and a stones throw away from the Irish Sea, I design my jewelry for you from my home studio in the seaside town of Bettystown.

All my pieces are created with a look that is modern and delicate in design with a touch of sparkle. Gotta love those gemstones!

I’m particularly passionate about using recycled sterling silver and gold, as it’s such a precious commodity and with a large leap forward in the metals industry towards this we believe recycled metals are so much better than adding another hole in the earth to extract her minerals, it’s better to use what you already have!

Using handcrafting and traditional techniques I start each piece off with wire and sheet sterling silver or gold which is then manipulated through hand and imagination to create the lovely jewelry you see for sale here on my website or on my socials. Adding a sprinkle of natural gemstones elevates the look I’m after to contrast with the metals and gives a gorgeous pop of much needed colour and sparkle.

I love to document the process and show how each unique design has been created, it gives a special look inside the creative process and what goes into being a silver/goldsmith.

MY STORY

As a kid I always leaned towards working with my hands and as a wee bairn would follow my dad (who is also very good creator in his own right) around helping with jobs and fetching tools. He would let me hammer in nails and teach me about how to take care of tools and machinery and and as I grew up the tools just became bigger and noisier.

Jewelry caught my eye like a magpie in my teenage years but having something mass produced never appealed to me, plus being allergic to base metals (Nickle, Zinc, Copper) didn’t help, so I would make my own simple one off creations and proudly wear them. I thought they were cool!

I suppose this was where it all started.

Its only years later after having my family I decided to reapply for college and to see where this could take me…fast forward another number of years and now I have a dedicated silversmithing studio where I create with my imagination and hands.

Which has brought me to where I am today with a wish to pass on my learned studies and knowledge to others who would like to know all about this wonderful artform. If you have ever wondered the ‘How and the What’ of what makes things tick, I highly recommend attending a class to find out first hand what goes into the making of a piece of jewelry.

In my silversmithing classes we start off with the basics and students proudly get to make a sterling silver ring that they can take home and declare ‘I made this’. It’s certainly not an experience to forget in a hurry, it’s so much fun.

So my story so far now is to share my gained knowledge with others and for them to see that it’s a good thing to experience new things!
